Affiliate Marketing - 3 Survival Tips

Published by admin | Filed under Affiliate Marketing

There is great potential for anyone wanting to get their feet wet and make money online in affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing allows you to partner up with another company offering a product or service and recieve commission for helping them recieve sales. This works out well for many looking to start earning revenue right away because they don’t have to deal with inventory or completing the sale. Sounds easy, right? Almost. More often than not, this process is over-simplified and people simply are acting on the concept alone before learning the proper foundation of affiliate marketing. I have outline three affiliate marketing tips below that should have you well on your way to success.

Before you begin your affiliate marketing campaign, keep in mind:

1. Develop your landing page.

You want to have a page that is going to collect all of the traffic you are going to be recieving. This has many advantages. First, if the affiliate offer you are apart of is ever discontinued or you want to find a different product to promote in the same niche - you can easily change the landing page that you directed your traffic to. This is alot easier than going back to every place you posted your affiliate link and updating it. Also, not everywhere you can market online will allow affiliate links. Some articles sites such as Ezine Articles will only let you link to a website that you own. This is good though, bringing them to a landing page first will allow you to give a review on the product, provide information the product owner might have missed, as well as developing traffic and building backlinks for your domain.

This is probably the most important tip, I cannot stress it enough. Make sure the landing page is enticing and draws the visitor in. If your writing lacks - outsource the work. You want to increase the chances the visitor is going to click through to the publishers page and purchase the product.

2. Select a great product.

Do you believe the product you are promoting is a good product? No? Then you should not be promoting it. You want to select a product that you personally use or feel strongly about it. This will show in your writing and in your promotion of the product. Don’t just go for the product that is going to give you the highest commission, the product might not even be good and then both you and the publishers reputation will decline.

Also, if you don’t select the right product - you may not get any sales in the first place. How does the publishers landing page look? Do they give enough information on the product? Are they overcharging for what the product is worth? You want to find a product that is WORTH your visitor’s money. Otherwise you are wasting both yours and their time. Research the product before you decide to promote it. Find out how successful other affiliates who are promoting the product are doing. Find out what users are saying about it after they use the product. These are all key factors to your success.

3. Drive targetted traffic.

What are the people coming to your landing page interested in? If someone is looking to buy a winter coat and they wind up on your landing page about bikinis do you think you are likely to get a sale? You have to make sure you are promoting your product to an audience not only interested in the product - but willing to spend money in order to obtain it. This is why you have to pay close attention to where you promote your product. If its at an article site - make sure it’s in the right section. Check the title of your article and then check the content of your article. I refer to this as the triangle check list for submitting an article. You have to make sure that the section the article is in relates to the title, the title relates to the content, and the content relates back to the section. Never should a visitor to the website be confused or feel as though your article is out of place with the rest.

If you are using forums - make sure you find the forums closest related to the niche of the product. This means you have to narrow down the fields a bit. Lets say your category is health and fitness and your product is a yoga video. Chances are you are not going to go to a body building forum to promote the product. The audience for the forums and the target audience for the product, although in the same category, do not quite match up.

So make sure that before you start any affiliate marketing campaign that you keep these three tips in mind. If you market the right way, you will see results instead of being left with the frustrations of wasted effort. Good luck, and keep checking back for more affiliate marketing tips to come.
